Windows tries to acquire a network address forever.
Windows XP may try unsuccessfully to acquire a network IP address forever.



Here is the fix...



1. Click the Start button, and select Control Panel.

2. Click the Network and Internet Connections link.

3. Click the Network Connections link.

4. Right-click your network connection, and select Properties.

5. Click the Install button.

6. Select Protocol.

7. Click the Add button.

8. Click the Have Disk button.

9. In the Copy Manufactuer's Files From text box, type: c:\windows\inf

10. Click OK.

11. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

12. Click OK.

13. Close all open windows.

14. Restart your computer.
