This is for those unlucky souls who try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a computer with an AMD processor and get a blank screen. 1. Boot into Safe Mode by slowly tapping F8 as your computer is first booting. 2. Go to RUN on your Start Menu and type regedit and hit ENTER. 3. browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\intelppm and change the "Start" value from 1 to 4. 4. Reboot
